Hence this study was carried out to assess the level of knowledge and practice of sickle cell disease prevention among staffs in the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH). Among the objectives were to assess knowledge of sickle cell prevention among staff in University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital Ilorin, Kwara State, to assess the practice of sickle cell prevention among the staff of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Kwara State and to identify factors affecting sickle cell prevention among staff in University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Kwara State. Relevant literatures from various authors on sickle cell disease and research on the practice of sickle cell prevention, factors affecting the prevention of sickle disease were reviewed. A descriptive survey design was used, 188 questionnaires were administered and retrieved by the researcher. Data collected was analyzed with the use of frequencies, percentages and are presented using frequency tables and charts. Relationship between variables were determined using chi-square with the level of significance set at 0.05 to determine level of statistical significance. The findings from the research showed that the staff have good knowledge of sickle cell disease and many of them heard about the disease from the hospital.
