The study adopted a descriptive survey design in which three research questions were posed. The population of the study was 96 while a sample size of 75 respondents was selected out of the total population of the nurses in the study area. Six point scale questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. The instrument was adequately validated with its reliability established using test-retest. Data collected were analyzed using mean scores. Based on the data collected and carefully analyzed, the researcher made the following findings Result shows that the majority of diabetes mellitus patients who participated in this study have an average level of knowledge regarding diabetes meal regimen in the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, also the indicators of the negligence of meal regimen adherence among diabetes mellitus patients identified in this study are Lack of communication with the healthcare provider, Duration of the disease, Overweight/obesity, Smoking and Physical inactivity.
