Abstract
The study investigated the impact of overseas development assistance (ODA) on economic growth in Nigeria. It encompasses the period up to 2021, utilizing available data and information. The study examines various forms of ODA, including financial aid, technical assistance, and capacity-building initiatives. A mixed-methods research design was employed. This design combines both quantitative and qualitative approaches to provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact of overseas development assistance on economic growth in Nigeria. The study employed annual time series data from 1990 to 2017 which were obtained from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Statistical Bulletin and World Development Indicators (WDI). Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression was employed for the analysis of the data. It further considered descriptive statistics and econometric analytical tools in analyzing data. The descriptive tools consist of tables, and graphs while the econometric tools on the other hand is made up of Unit Root test under which the Augmented Dikkey Fuller Test (ADF) tests was conducted to test the null hypothesis that a series has unit root. The findings of the study revealed that overseas development assistance (ODA) inflows show significant variability, yet the weak positive relationship and non-significant p-value in the regression analysis raise questions about the substantial impact of ODA on economic growth. Trade activities exhibit considerable volatility, emphasizing the sensitivity of global engagement to external factors. The analysis of overseas development assistance (ODA) inflows reveals a wide range from 152 million to 11.43 billion units, reflecting significant variability in external financial assistance. The high standard deviation underscores the potential impact of global economic dynamics and changing international aid policies on the recipient country....
