Abstract
The aim of this project is to know the causes and effects of slums on property value. To provide the framework for this project and gather data, the research commenced from the introduction of the study, it reviewed related literature to enhance the understanding of the topic. It examined the causes of slums and their effect on property value, the analysis of the problems emanating from the above will give way to a forward alternative that emphasizes the effective way to control slums in our residential area. It was recommended that the federal government should engage in rehabilitating the case studied area and also provide basic amenities such as pipe-borne water, electricity, and good roads, the area should be re-developed so as to attract the construction of better structures in the area of improve the standard of the area. It has been seen that slums affect the area negatively. Slums in these areas affect properties both physically, socially, and functionally. The study also attempts to review the causes of slums and how slums can be controlled in this area. It is clear that with the support of the Federal Government and the relevant planning authorities, the condition of landed property and environment as well as the quality of life and the area.  ...
