Improved cocktail production - an entrepreneurship perspective for graduates in hospitality industry

Abstract
It has been noticed and observed that graduates of the Hospitality and Tourism Management and other related departments lack comprehensive knowledge and interest in cocktail production. This as a result, negatively impacts the industry because it makes the industry have a deficit of capable professionals. This research was done in order to find out the reasons why hospitality industry graduates are not actively involved in the field of cocktail production. It was observed that a major reason that these graduates are not interested in cocktail production is that they lack exposure and experience in the world of cocktail production and consumption. A total of 190 students of Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku filled out the questionnaires that were handed out and from this, it was further observed that although the majority of the students have an idea of what it a cocktail is, very few of them know the true essence of cocktail production and consumption. These findings therefore suggest that cocktail production should be added to the scheme for Hospitality Industry students so as to help increase the foundational knowledge of the drink known as“Cocktail”....
