This research is an assessment of Local Government Area in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. The researcher used a simple random sampling technique to collect data. The research found that majority of the residents were poor while the area produced much oil wealth for the nation, the local government council did not utilize the funds allocated to them very judiciously despite great potentials for development.
