SMEs play a pivotal role in the economic development of any region, particularly in job creation and technological advancement. The principal aim of the research is to assess the contribution of SMEs to job creation, technological innovation, and the challenges they face. Drawing from a review of literature, previous studies have established a significant relationship between SME growth and economic development. The study employs the resource-based theory as the theoretical framework, highlighting the strategic role of resource allocation in business performance. A descriptive survey design was adopted for the research, with a population comprising SME owners and employees in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State. Using Taro Yamane''''s formula, a sample size of 200 respondents was determined through simple random sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics such as percentages and frequencies, as well as inferential statistics. The findings revealed that 60% of SMEs significantly contribute to job creation, while 45% are engaged in promoting technological innovations.
