The objectives were to find out the Readiness and perception of metacognition in learning mathematics among the Mathematics students at Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano. Design population sampling: seventy (70) questionnaires were administered to the respondents and the data collected was analysed using simple table with percentages. The findings of the study revealed that most of the respondents (48.57%) indicated that Students have some knowledge of metacognitive strategies but use them inconsistently or only in specific situations related to mathematics learning. This research work revealed that the majority of the respondents (50%) indicated that Students are fully aware of and actively use metacognitive strategies such as planning, monitoring, and evaluating their learning processes in mathematics. Lastly, this study revealed that 48.57% indicated that a Background in Science is one of the Factors influencing students' readiness in Learning Mathematics. It was recommended that Teachers should actively incorporate metacognitive strategies into their mathematics lessons to enhance students' readiness and perception of self-regulated learning. Teachers should create a classroom culture that encourages collaboration, open discussions, and self-reflection.
