Abstract
This study explores the relationship between motivation and employee performance in the context of Yauri Local Government Secretariat, Kebbi State. Motivation is a fundamental aspect of improving employee performance, and this research aims to understand the impact of motivation on the staff's productivity within the local government. The study utilizes a sample of 100 employees from various departments, employing a stratified sampling technique. The research instrument used for data collection was structured questionnaires, distributed to the selected respondents. The questionnaire encompassed several aspects, including socio-economic and demographic information, the influence of motivation on employee performance, the role of financial incentives, the effects of salary and wages, and the impact of job dissatisfaction on employee performance. Descriptive statistics, such as frequency distribution and percentages, were employed to analyze and present the collected data. The findings shed light on the significance of motivation in enhancing employee performance and the role of financial incentives in motivating employees. It also highlights the importance of salary and wages in the overall motivational package and the negative effects of job dissatisfaction on employee performance. This research holds both theoretical and practical significance, offering insights into the role of motivation in organizational success, especially within a local government setting. The results can be used to inform strategies for improving employee performance and satisfaction within Yauri Local Government Secretariat and similar organizations....
