Abstract
This study examined the effect of leadership styles on employee engagement in Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. The research objectives were to examine the effect of transformational, transactional, and servant leadership on employee engagement in the institution. A descriptive survey research design was employed for the study. The population for the study comprised 1,345 academic and non-academic staff of the Polytechnic, from which a sample of 308 respondents was selected using the Taro Yamane formula. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using regression analysis via SPSS. The findings revealed that transformational, transactional, and servant leadership styles all have significant positive effects on employee engagement at Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa. Based on these findings, it was recommended that the management of the institution should prioritize the development of transformational leadership skills such as vision sharing, motivation, and creativity. Furthermore, transactional leadership strategies like performance-based rewards and clear expectations should be reinforced. Finally, servant leadership practices that focus on empathy, support, and employee development should be institutionalized to foster a more engaged workforce....
