One of the aims of secondary education is that, secondary school leavers should be able to make a useful living for themselves within the society (FRN, 2004). According to Fafunwa (1991), the purpose of Education is functionalism. Secretarial/Vocational/business education provided practical skills for occupational purpose. On completion of the senior secondary school, students can seek admission into higher institutions to study courses that are of interest to them. However, since secretarial subjects’ teachers are the pre-requisite for effective implementation of secretarial subjects offered at the secondary school level of education, the aims of secretarial subjects cannot be achieved if the teachers are in short supply or are not properly utilized in the education sector. In view of these, an assessment was made on the problems and prospects of teaching secretarial subjects.
