The study employed the use of structured questionnaires to collect information from parents in Rogo Local Government, Kano State, Nigeria. The target population comprised of 6,016 children from the study area. Descriptive statistics such as simple percentage and tables were used to summarize the data. Analysis of variance was used at a 0.05% level of significance to test the hypotheses. The study revealed the prevalence of all forms of domestic violence such as physical, economic, emotional and psychological in most of the homes investigated in this study. The study shows that child academic performance is significantly affected as a result of domestic violence. The study also revealed that children who grow up in violent homes have a much higher risk of becoming drug or alcohol abusers or being in abusive relationships. The study recommends that domestic violence awareness campaigns should be put in place to educate the public on the dangers of violence.
