Abstract
This study aimed to assess the knowledge of Lassa fever among nursing students at the School of Nursing, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH). The objectives were to determine their knowledge of Lassa fever symptoms and risk factors, attitudes towards Lassa fever, and familiarity with prevention methods. A descriptive research design was used. Data was collected via questionnaires and analyzed with descriptive statistics like frequency distributions and percentages.  The key finding was that 96.8% of respondents had heard of Lassa fever and knew its signs, symptoms, and predisposing factors. However, 77.7% believed Lassa fever is difficult to treat and 70.2% preferred to avoid contact with Lassa fever patients, indicating mixed attitudes. Known prevention methods included health education, hand hygiene, safe injection practices, dedicated patient equipment, personal protective equipment, barrier nursing, and isolation.  In conclusion, while nursing students demonstrated substantial knowledge, their attitudes suggest room for improved adherence to standard precautions for infection prevention and control. It is recommended that health authorities promote standardized precautions against Lassa fever through comprehensive educational interventions targeting this demographic. This can strengthen prevention across all healthcare levels....
