The research aimed to achieve three objectives: (1) to evaluate the relationship between screen time duration and changes in accommodative function, (2) to identify common symptoms associated with prolonged screen time and their correlation with accommodative-convergence dysfunction, and (3) to assess the impact of prolonged screen use on convergence ability and near-point of convergence. A cross-sectional observational design was employed, targeting healthy adults aged 20–40 years who use digital devices for at least 4 hours daily. A sample size of 100 participants was selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires for demographic details and visual symptoms, and clinical tests, including Near Point of Accommodation (NPA), Near Point of Convergence (NPC), and Amplitude of Accommodation (AA), using standardized optometric instruments. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS software, employing descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (paired sample t-tests, correlation analysis). Findings revealed statistically significant improvements in NPA, NPC, and AA post-screen exposure, indicating short-term visual adaptation to sustained near work. However, these changes may reflect transient stress, potentially leading to long-term visual fatigue.
