Abstract
This project examined the"Assessment of the Impact of corruption on Effective Management of Retirement Benefits in Public Organizations" using Niger State Pension Board Minna as a case study. In carrying out the research work, both primary and secondary data were used by the researcher. The data analyzed were collected from the field survey through the use of the questionnaire, which was analyzed and interpreted using tables and percentages, while the research hypothesis was tested by a statistical tool chi-square. The findings discovered within the research work are that there were problems of corruption, embezzlement of funds, mismanagement and divergence of funds that are meant for pensioners which have led the pension program into a bad shape than the good it was intended. The corrupt practices have led many to their early graves and left people in abject poverty and even in sickbeds due to high pretention of months of no payment. The result of the findings revealed that the state government does not take adequate care of the pensioners and retirees, entitlements are not paid as at and when due. From the research findings conclusion was drawn and the result of the analysis shows that workers (the civil servants) are been cheated on their rights through delay in pension and gratuity. The study recommends ensuring that provision should be made by the government to review the retirement benefit to go with the reality of economic times. ...
