Abstract
This study is the investigation of corrosion inhibition efficiency of mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) on carbon steel. The method involved the immersion of carbon steel material or substrate in NaCl, Na2co3, and Na2so4 of different concentration media over a period of 1,008 hrs (42 days). Then the weight loss analysis of the substrates was carried out to determine the corrosion rate. The result shows that the substrate or coated substrate immersed in 1.0M of Na2co3 solution had the highest corrosive tendency followed by 0.5M (Nacl), 1.0M (Nacl), 0.5M (Na2co3), 0.5M (Na2so4), and least was 1.0M of Na2so4 solution respectively. It is recommended that future researchers should try developing a model to better interpret the effect of corrosion increase in carbon steel. ...
