This study investigated the impact of health and safety in Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri Imo State. The major objective of this study is to determine the best way of enhancing health and safety and as such reduce the high rate of organizational hazards in Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri. While the specific objectives are to assess the significant impact of health and safety on organization, to ascertain the constraints to effective health and safety of workers and to examine the effectiveness of training programmes on employees' performance and productivity as well. The population of the study is 89, the instrument used for research data collection was structured questionnaire which comprised a total of 10 closed-ended questions administered to 73 respondents selected from the SBMT out of which 64 were correctly filled and returned. Whereas 9 were not filled correctly and were not returned too. Data collected were analyzed using simple percentage (%) and chi-square method to test hypothesis formulated, while stratified simple random sampling was used in the selection process. The findings of the study show that effective information and improved training has a significant impact on employees' behavior as well as attitude to work. The study concludes that an unhealthy and unsafe environment can be controlled through subsequent training, giving information on time and close supervision by the supervisors. It, therefore, recommends that management should build large and designed health and safety management permanent center for supervisors as well as giving incentives to motivate the employees and awaken their mind on safety and health consciousness.   ...
