The objectives of the study were to ascertain the level of students’ academic performance in Nigeria secondary schools, examine the influence of school library utilization on learning of secondary school students in Nigeria, determine measures for preventing low academic performance in secondary schools of Nigeria. The scope of the study is all secondary schools of Abia state making use of students and staff of some selected secondary schools, the classical learning theory was used as a framework. The research design used for this study is survey, the population targeted for this study consists of all secondary schools in Nigeria, a total of 50 schools was used as sample size consisting of 300 questionnaires administered to students and staffs and cluster sampling technique was applied. Instrument used for this study is the questionnaire. Data collected were collected from primary sources. From the analysis of the data, the findings show the level of students’ academic performance in Nigeria schools is high, The availability of school libraries helps to improve student academic performance, The problem of Low academic performance can be solved by making use of school libraries. Following the findings, it was recommended that every secondary school should ensure that the library facility is provided as this will improve on the student, school libraries should be well equipped with internet access. The study concludes that the use of instructional materials when teaching in junior secondary schools should be embraced as this will help raise the level of comprehension.
