Physiochemical analysis of V.amygdalinarevealed that it contains bioactive compound which include: oxalate, phylate, tannins, saponins, flavonoid, cyan-organic glycosides, alkaloids, anthraquinone, steroid and phenol. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of water and ethanol extracts on the test organisms range between 25 µ1/ml-50 µ1/ml. Similarly, the zone of inhibition of the plant extract diameters at a concentration of 100 µ1/ml range between 7.5-5.0mm and 11.5-7.0mm for water and ethanol extract respectively on the test organisms. Water extract of V.amygdalina was more effective on Pseudomonas Aeruginosa. These extracts showed a zone of inhibition higher than some selected antibiotics (Amoxicillin, Tetracycline, Doxycycline, Ampliclox and Septrin) at 400 µ1/ml.
