The study has shown that privatization and commercialization programme has not been successful in Nigeria due to lack of careful analysis, planning and implementation. The implementation of privatization exercise posses several challenges, some of which are specific to the government while others concern the operators in the capital market. On the strength of the findings, recommendations were made. Proper privatization and commercialization should be able to generate more employment opportunities, increase production, reduce prices and improve the standard of living in the long run.
