Crude extract was not sensitive in all the test microorganisms while concentrated extracts were sensitive only in Streptococcus and Escherichia coli. In this study of antimicrobial property of extract of underground stem of Opete (Costus afer), it has been observed that extract from Opete has antimicrobial properties. Concentrated extract of the above named plant was able to kill the growth of the Streptococcus and E.coli used for the experiment while the crude extract could not.
