Abstract
The purpose of this study was to assess the knowledge and attitude of primary school teachers toward children with learning disabilities in primary schools in Bauchi Local Government Area in Bauchi state. This study was conducted on 10 selected public and private primary school teachers in Bauchi local government area. Quantitative descriptive design was used to assess the knowledge, attitude and of primary school teachers toward children with learning disabilities. Convenient sampling technique was used to collect data from teachers. Data was collected using self-administered structured knowledge questionnaire and attitude scale. The findings of the study revealed that majority of government and private school teachers showed moderate level of knowledge on learning disability. Most of the respondents could correctly identify pupils with learning disability in various classes. A higher percentage of respondents from government and private schools have favorable attitude in dealing with learning disabilities among children. I concluded that government should arrange a special training programme to educate the teachers regarding identification and management of learning disabilities in both public and private schools....
