A prospective, quantitative non–experimental, descriptive research design was employed to evaluate the awareness and knowledge of hypertensive patients on Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) as complications of hypertension in Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, Ekiti State (EKSUTH). Using Yamara Taro N sampling method 25 well structured and likert scale questionnaire were administered after obtaining an approval from the health institution and consent from the respondents. Twenty-one, 21(30%) males and 49 (70%) females were used with the highest number, 21(30%) between 48 -57 years and 45(64.3) of the respondents having tertiary certificate. The questionnaire was validated using face and content and test re–test was used to establish consistency of the instrument. The completed questionnaire was collated and analyzed utilizing descriptive statistics such as frequency tables, charts and percentage. The research questions were answered and it revealed the level of awareness and knowledge of hypertensive patients on drug compliance and good blood pressure control in the management towards prevention of CKD. Also, the hypotheses were analyzed using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) and inferential statistics (chi-square).
