A sample of 100 students was drawn from the population of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara students, to which, a questionnaire was administered. Their responses were evaluated using simple percentages and chi-square test of independence. The result revealed that 93% of the students that responded to this study are having lower credit which implies average performance in academics, most of the respondents (62%) have average expenditure cost. It was also found that most of the students (86%) spend more on textbooks while on campus and that 61% of the respondents get the finances they spend in meeting their academic needs from parents/guardians and personal income. The test of hypothesis indicated that there is a significant effect of students’ source of income and their learning outcome in tertiary institutions.
