Three local governments of the state were sampled for examination and the respondents included different categories of residence in the state. Questionnaires were administered to respondents to obtain the necessary data needed for the study. Percentage frequency and chi-square test of independence were used in analyzing the data. The result indicated that the influence of a ruling political party affects the electoral result of a state and that good accountability of government is a major factor that facilitates economic and societal development. Political party dominance system was found to reduce the competition strength of potential political leaders and that the use of political thugs by dominant parties does not increase the insecurity of individuals in the state.
