Abstract
The project focused on budget and budgetary control as an aid to management decision making, a case study of First Bank of Nigeria plc. The problem of this research is the problem of choice and resource allocation as the core cause of business disequilibrium. Most manufacturing firms have problems with allocation, distribution and control of resources on their production floor. The objective of the study is to assess the relationship between budgeting and managerial planning and control, to highlight the consequences of poor budgeting on managerial planning and control and to determine the role of budgeting in management's decision making. 200 Staff of First bank of Nigeria plc were used in the formulation of the sample which consists of adults and teenagers. Descriptive survey research method was employed in the data presentation using simple percentages. A total of 133 copies of questionnaires were distributed. The questionnaires were the instrument for data collection and from findings, only 120 copies were retrieved out of the 133 copies administered. Results from the study showed that there is a relationship between budgeting and managerial planning and control, it was recommended that Management and members of the budget committee should establish clear-cut corrective actions that would be taken whenever there is a difference in the variance analysis. The corrective measure to be taken whenever the budget is not adhered to should be clearly stated and known to everyone that is affected by the budget....
