Abstract
This work studied the Knowledge, Attitude and Practices of different health care workers towards Hepatitis B Infection at General Hospital Gwarzo, Kano State, Nigeria. A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used to gather the relevant information using self-administered paper questionnaires and interviews through the use of systemic random sampling technique to select the respondents. Data were analyzed using simple statistical techniques such as frequency and percentage. One hundred questionnaires were distributed to 100 health care workers all of which were returned, the various professional health care disciplines include: medical doctors, nurses, laboratory scientists/technicians, community health extension workers, community health officers and health attendants working at General hospital Gwarzo, Kano state. The result shows that almost all health care workers have good Knowledge and good Attitude as well as fair practices toward hepatitis B infection. However, medical doctors, nurses, achieved the highest response score followed by laboratory scientists/technicians and the least were community health extension workers, community health officers and health attendants which were due to educational discrepancies among the staff, insufficient supply of protective devices from the hospital management.
