The evaluation was done through the use of structured questionnaire tailored towards: The role of communication toward health record management, why effective communication is important, the problem hindering communication skills and solution to it in health record management in University of Medical sciences teaching hospital Akure complex. The study employed survey research design in the work. The questionnaire was structured in line with the objectives set out to be achieved in the study. A total number of 66 health records staff were used for the sample size and simple random sampling was used to select the respondents. The data generated from the field survey were presented and analyzed using quantitative methods like frequency distribution tables and simple percentages (%). Among the 60 respondents, 66.67% have heard about effective communication in the health record management department, 33.33% have not heard about effective communication. The study revealed that the respondents have an idea on effective communication in health record management practice. However the study revealed that health record management cannot achieve its goal without effective communication, the management should make sure that the relevant information should be passed across to workers before decisions are made. However, the study also reveals possible solutions to effective communication in health record management practice like consulting others before transferring information and to be aware of the language tone and content of the message and also to ensure proper feedback.
