Abstract
This project work examined the knowledge attitudes and practices of oral hygiene among students of Cherubim and Seraphim in Sabo Oke Ilorin. It also informed the health officers on knowledge attitudes and practices of oral hygiene. Among the objectives is to assess the knowledge of students on hygiene, to examine the methods of practice of oral hygiene and to make recommendations on the importance of oral hygiene. Many medical and allied works of literature were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research uses descriptive survey to sample 120 respondents from the study area and taken as participants. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 120 questionnaires were distributed out of which 100 were retrieved. In conclusion, recommendations were made that To the students: students need to be educated more on how to take good and proper care of their teeth, avoid eating sugary foods and also educate them on beneficial foods and that will prevent oral diseases. To the schools: oral hygiene activities should be put in place in our various schools. Also, healthy food should be made readily available in the school canteen, school health policies should also put in place that bans sugary foods and drinks in the school premises. To the parents: parents also play a vital role in the eating behavior of their children, parents should discourage their children from eating sugary foods and drinks so as to prevent tooth decay. To the federal government: the federal government should also participate in the awareness of oral hygiene as part of personal hygiene to the general public.
