Abstract
This project work examined the knowledge and practice of mothers attending child welfare clinics towards the use of zinc oxide in the management of diarrhea disease in UITH, Ilorin. It also informed the health authorities on the knowledge and practice of mothers attending child welfare clinics. Among the objectives is to determine mothers' knowledge about zinc oxide tablets in the management of diarrhea. To find out the practices of mothers relating to the use of zinc oxide tablets in the management of diarrhea, to identify the association between mothers' educational level and knowledge of zinc oxide therapy. Many medical and allied literatures were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research use descriptive survey to sample 60 respondents attending welfare clinics of UITH, Ilorin, Kwara state. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 60 questionnaires were distributed out of which 60 were retrieved. In conclusion, recommendations were made that hospital should frequently organize a workshop to create awareness on zinc oxide in relation to diarrhea management, awareness should start from mothers coming for antenatal clinic and immunization clinics and a sample of the drug should be given to mothers that bring their child for immunization for the first time.
