Abstract
This project was intended to examine the influence of NTA programme  "Esa Iban" on Ibibio Cultural promotion using Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State as a case study. The study was prompted by the drifting tendency of the present generation towards western culture through exposure to some television programmes. The objective of the research was to determine the percentage of viewership to  "Esa Iban" NTA programme in  Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, to find out whether the NTA - Uyo programme  "Esa Iban" has cultural content and to ascertain if the programme  "Esa Iban" influences the cultural orientation of Nsit Ibom residents. The objectives formed the basis of the research generations. To determine the population of the study, the researcher used stratified sampling technique to select 389 sample size from 108611 who filled and returned the questionnaire forms which were used to collect data. The data collected were presented and analyzed on frequency tables. From the findings, it was discovered that a substantial number of respondents of about 53% were either influence partly or totally by NTA - Uyo  "Esa Iban" programme. The researcher recommended that programmes with more Ibibio content should be increased. Government and management of broadcasting firms should formulate guidelines to checkmate programmes broadcast from the media house. ...
