Abstract
This research examines and highlights“The effectiveness of planet radio programme“Ifiok” in the enhancement of rural development in Nsit Atai L.G.A. The aim of the study was to find out if the planet radio programme“Ifiok” promotes rural development, to also examine the effectiveness of the Planet radio programme“Ifiok” on rural development/dwellers. Development media theory was used as the theoretical formulation for the study. The survey design was the type of research in this work. Data were obtained through the use of structured questionnaire (close-ended) which was administered to the respondents in the study using cluster random sampling technique, whereby Nsit Atai was group into ten (10) wards  and one village was randomly selected from each wards. The sample was three hundred and fifty (350) which was selected from a population of One hundred and one thousand nine hundred and fifteen (101,915). Descriptive statistical method was used to analyze the data collection in frequencies and simple percentages. The findings revealed that the planet radio programme“Ifiok” has aid in the enhancement of rural development and also made known that the programme“Ifiok” has impacted on the rural dwellers positively. Based on these findings, it is therefore recommended that the Planet radio programme“Ifiok” should be encouraged through government sponsorship, awareness should be created about the programme, and most especially the programme should be properly funded in order to yield effective result. ...
