Abstract
This research work focused on the democratic leadership style on employee performance. A case study of coca-cola Nigerian Bottling Company. The main objective of this study is to examine the democratic leadership style on employee performance and to examine or investigate whether the application of this style can lead to an increase in productivity. The problems addressed show that lack of professional competence by employees have led to wrong decision making process due to broad participation and also a decrease in productivity due to one particular leadership style. In the course of the study, the population used was 1,250 workers and the sample size drawn was 303 workers. The researcher adopted a descriptive research design and both primary and secondary methods of data collection were used. The responses from the questionnaires were analyzed. Percentages and chi-square (x2) statistical methods were used in analyzing the questionnaire and testing the hypothesis respectively. The finding indicated that employees’ participation in decision making can lead to organizational growth. It was also discovered that the democratic leadership style is more effective especially in supervision as regards to other leadership styles. The study recommended that leaders/ managers should employ a democratic leadership style as it will not only offer healthy working conditions to employees but, will also provide the organization an opportunity to achieve their set goals and objectives....
