Abstract
Distribution systems hold a very significant position in the power system since it is the main point of link between bulk power and consumers. A planned and effective distribution network is the key to cope up with the ever-increasing demand for domestic, industrial and commercial load. Performance and analysis of feeders are of prime importance for effective planning of load transfers from the transmission to injection substations. Power companies are interested in finding the most efficient configuration for minimization of power loses, outages and load balancing among distribution feeders to save energy and enhance the overall performance of the system. The researchers reviewed the data record of outages on Oguta Feeder from Egbu Transmission substation for three years (2013 - 2015) and made a graphical analysis of the data to achieve the objective of the study. Conclusion and recommendations were drawn from data comparison between the outages on the feeder for the years 2013 and 2014. Frequency and Duration model of NEPLAN analysis was used to simulate and review the data records. Results shows a poor improvement on the line between 2013 and 2014. It is therefore recommended that complete improvement of the depreciating system/equipment should be carried out.
