Abstract
The effective and efficient running and operation of any business (Bank Inclusive) hinges on quality decisions taken by the managers. Quality decisions cannot be possible without the proper and adequate availability of information necessary to guide them to take decisions. The information must follow a certain programmed system. Management information system being a system that records not only transactions but also provides summary information to all levels of management especially the senior managers to assess whether the organization is following its long-term strategic objectives and helping them to make decisions necessary for the operations of the business is a sine qua non for smooth flow and implementation of set plans of any business. The role played by management information systems in the effective performance of the banking system is crucial as banks are crippled with quality decisions and actions. The study used questionnaires to collect information from thirty (30) staff of the Union bank of Nigeria Plc Owerri main branch which was later analyzed using simple percentages. Therefore, the study recommends that banks should ensure increased customer satisfaction through the application of good management information systems in all their operations. This will undoubtedly speed up the process so that, the time required to serve a customer can be faster....
