Abstract
This research work explored cooperative as an instrument of rural development, especially in Ohafia L.G.A. This work looks into the characteristics of rural life, the contribution of cooperatives in rural areas, the economic role of cooperative, social role of cooperative, technical role of cooperative, contributions of women, empowerment towards the development of rural areas, problems faced by cooperative towards the development of rural areas, and this work also suggested the possible solution to the problems. To collect data, a total of 250 questionnaires containing 12 questions were administered to the respondent to elicit data from the study, of which 200 of (80%) of the question were used in data analysis. Conclusively, the study has found out that cooperative as an instrument have done much good to the life of their members, economically, socially and otherwise towards the development of Ohafia L.G.A ...
