The economy of Nigeria has experienced a drastic setback in the role played by small-scale businesses. This can be seen by the inability of most financial institutions in the country, which gives out loan to meet the demand of their numerous customers. However, the economy of Nigeria which is a good example of a developing economy is attributed with many problems. It is on this basis that this research was carried out to actually know the factors behind the business and to investigate the remote and immediate cause of sudden increase of small-scale business in our economy. The data collected were classified, analyzed, and interpreted using tabular and percentage presentation to ensure clear understanding or work. Based on the researchers' findings, recommendations were made on how best this problem could be tackled to ensure a better future for small-scale industries.
