This work is divided into 5 (five) chapters. Chapter one, highlighted what disaster is and the different causes and types of disaster. In chapter two, the necessary literatures were reviewed. In chapter three, the research method used was the survey method, the research finding were based on the data collected from the research instrument are shown in the methodology. Chapter four, shows how data collected were analyzed and interpreted. In conclusion, which is the last chapter, some recommendations were made after finding out that the National Archives, Owerri Branch is intended to prepare for disaster occurrence, but the worst factor that makes it unable to carry out this task is inadequate provision of funds.
