However, from the inception of time pesticides in use, these days were harmful which led to discoveries of new less harmful pesticides by some scientists which are in use up to date. The study objective was to proffer mitigating measures against the negative effects of pesticides on health and the environment. Survey study design and random sampling techniques were adopted to determine the sample size to be one hundred and twenty from the community out of the total population twenty– four thousand nine hundred and forty– seven (24,947). One hundred (100) questionnaires were distributed and ninety (90) retrieved. The instrument used was questionnaire and interview, data collected was analyzed using simple percentage and bar chart. Result and findings, the result showed that there are negative effects associated with pesticide use therein and more so, pesticide applicators do not observe the precautionary measures while handling pesticide. Conclusion lack of training, non–adherence to manufacturers instructions and lack of protective devices were the major factors behind those effects. Thus, recommendations were made so as to protect and promote the health status of pesticide applicators therein.
