Abstract
This study was carried out to evaluate the phytochemical properties and proximate analysis of Phyllanthus Niruri. The whole plant was analyzed for proximate and mineral element compositions. The results indicate that the plant contains useful nutrients for use in dietary preparations of functional foods. Carbohydrate (42.05) was found to present in the highest concentration followed by crude fibre (18.47). protein, fat was (13.29) and (7.13) respectively with an adequate moisture content of (10.67). the phytochemical screening of the plant extracts revealed the presence of alkaloids (2.84). saponin (4.47), tannins (18.1)  and flavonoids (0.35). The present study demonstrated that Phyllanthus Niruri is a valuable plant for naturaceuticals and dietary supplements. ...
