Abstract
Palm oil obtained from Aba was analyzed on the physiochemical properties. The result of the analysis revealed the saponification value, iodine value, peroxide value, acid value, free fatty acid and refractive index to be 190.74, 49.84, 9.60, 2.10, 1.05 and 1.4629 respectively. This study shows that palm oil from Aba has good quality and can be used for cooking and industrial purposes. Palm oil is an edible vegetable oil derived from the mesocarp (redish pulp) of the fruit of the oil palms, primarily the African oil palm Elaesis Guineenis (Reeves et al 1979). ...
