Abstract
The research work titled“the role of breastfeeding in the growth and development of a child was conducted considering the neglect that has been observed in children, three research question guided this study. It aims at knowing the importance of breastfeeding children and how it influences their development. This research work was conducted in Zing local government area, 100 typed questionnaires were prepared and distributed in the study area where 97 of the questionnaire were retrieved, 69 (69.1%) of the respondents were males and 30(30.9%) were females. Majority of the respondents 30% had secondary school education, 27.8% had either ND or NCE and 20.6% had HND/Bsc or PGD/MBA. 30.9% of the respondent agreed that nutrition plays a vital role in breastfeeding a child while 15.5% of the respondents were of the opinion that nutrition has no role in breastfeeding. 41.2% of the respondents strongly agreed that breastfeeding plays a vital role in the growth of a child while 10% disagreed. ...
