This research aimed to identify the causes, effects and solutions to desertification in Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State. One hundred questionnaires were randomly distributed across the study area. The causes were found to be deforestation, overgrazing, bush burning and drought. This consequently leads to a decrease in land productivity, high mortality in livestock population erosion activities among others. Afforestation was adopted as the main solution to desertification. It was recommended that solar cookers, electric stoves, improved wood stoves should be used and enforcement of stringent measures to protect the environment. Also, tree planting and awareness of desertification were recommended. ...Preview Download Preview +Other Forestry and Wildlife Management project topics and materials you might be interested in»Biodiversity conservation in Sanda Kyarimi Park Zoo»Predicting the effectiveness of wildlife education programme - a study of students attitiude and knowledge towards conservation in Lekki conservation centre»Assessment of students’ perceptions on conservation issues in two selected zoos»Modeling of soil parameters in Arakanga forest reserve, using spatial geo-statistical technique in GIS with inverse distance weighted to create digital surface of the soil parameters»Forestry and poverty alleviation»Assessment of desertification in Katsina state - case study of Katsina metropolis»Survey of wildlife species in Makurdi metropolis»Assessment of amenity trees in Makurdi, Otukpo and Okpokwu local government areas of Benue state
