Abstract
This study is on the impact of bank verification numbers (BVN) Policy on corrupt business practices in Kogi State using United Bank for African, Lokoja as the case study. The major objective of this project is to examine the effectiveness of bank verification number in curbing identity theft in the study banks and to ascertain the extent to which bank verification number serve as an effective tool for the safety of depositor funds in the study bank. The methodology adopted in gathering data was both the primary and secondary methods. The major instrument used to gather data from primary source is the questionnaire. From a population of one hundred and twenty (120), a sample size of ninety two (92) was selected using simple random sampling technique. Findings revealed that Bank verification number is effective in curbing identity theft in money deposit money bank. Bank verification number serves as an effective tool for the safety of depositors’ funds in deposit money banks. In view of these findings, it was recommended that Nigerian commercial banks should extend biometric authentication systems to all of their operations like internet banking, mobile banking, ATM banking and Point of Sales (POS), etc. this is because biometric system increases the security of depositors fund and other personal information of bank clients as well as prevents financial frauds in banking firms. ...
