Abstract
This project aimed at investigating the effect of water/ cement ratio with constant cement content. In order to achieve the above aim, some laboratory test were conducted these tests include specific gravity, slump test, concrete compressive strength and flexural strength test. During the concrete production the water/ cement ratio was varied from 0.3 to 0.4 in step of 0.05 while the cement content was kept constant. For each water/ cement ratio, concrete was prepared and casted in 8nos of cubes mould out of which 4nos were crushed in 7days while the other 4nos were crushed in 28days. The same way was followed to cast concrete for flexural strength. After the analysis the result obtained showed that the slump test result for 7 and 28days are 0.3  60mm, 0.35  72mm, 0.4  90mm, this shows that there is an increase in water/ cement ratio will increase the slump value of concrete. Compressive strength result for 7 and 28days are 0.3  21.63N/mm2 and 26.62N/mm3, 0.35  21.88N/mm2 and 26.53N/mm2 and 0.4  19.21N/mm2 and 21.03N/mm2, the result shows that as the water/ cement ratio increase the compressive strength decreases. Flexural strength result for 7 and 28days are 0.3  0.77N/mm2 and 0.84N/mm2, 0.35  0.7N/mm2 and 0.75N/mm2 and for 0.4  0.6N/mm2 and 0.73N/mm2 respectively. Finally, the result shows that as the water/ cement ration increase the flexural strength decreases....
