A total of 150 (one hundred and twenty) samples (respondents) were selected randomly from the three locations in this study and questionnaires were administered to them. A purposive selection of five districts within each local was done based on the availability of amenity trees in the area and random sampling of 10 respondents per district was done to select a total of 50 respondents per local government. Data was collected from the respondents using research questionnaires. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies, means, percentages and tables were used in analyzing the data obtained from this research. The result showed that the most predominant tree species in the study area were Mangifera indica, Azadirachta indica, Elaeis guinensis, Terminalia spp, Citrus spp, Polyalthia longifolia, Irvingia garbonensis, Cocos nucifera, Delonix regia, Gmelina arborea, Tectona grandis, and Parkia biglobosa. This study has shown that Makurdi, Otukpo and Okpokwu Local Governments of Benue state are diverse in amenity tree composition. These diverse trees provide invaluable environmental and economic services and thus, are of great importance. It is concluded that tree species compositions are affected by the function, characteristics and species of the tree.
