Abstract
This study focuses on the attitude of mothers toward early sex education in Idanre Community. Sex education composes of the knowledge of male and female anatomy on part of the body. The basic process of human reproduction and development of sexual intercourse consequences and responsibilities, contraception and where or how to get counseling. The objectives of the study were to determine the level of knowledge of Idanre mothers about early sex education, to determine the attitude of mothers to early sex education using Idanre community as case study, to determine how comfortable they are giving sex education to their children, to examine the benefits of early sex education. The study employed descriptive research design. Simple random sampling technique was adopted to sample 100 members of 3 villages which includes Alade, Odode, Atosin. Data was collected with the aid of questionnaires where 100 questionnaires were administered and returned for analysis. Analysis revealed that the level of knowledge of Idanre mothers about sex education is very low, while the attitude of mothers towards early sex education in Idanre community is very high, and the number of mothers that are comfortable giving sex education to their children is very low and finally the benefits of sex education to young girls in Idanre community is low. This study recommends that mothers should not only teach abstinence from sex but also talk about sex education in a comprehensive aspect of it and mothers should be educated on what sex issues to teach their children at different ages and mothers should pay attention to their children's sexual health at all times.   ...
