Abstract
This project work was conducted to evaluate the knowledge and perception of patients with kidney disease on dietary modification in UITH, Ilorin, Kwara State. It informed the health officers on the knowledge of patients with kidney as it relates to dietary medications in the hospital. Among the objectives is to assess the knowledge of patients with kidney disease on dietary modification and to assess the perceived benefit derived from dietary modification among patients with kidney disease. Furthermore, to identify the perceived factors affecting dietary modification among patients with kidney disease. Many medical and allied literatures were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research uses descriptive survey to sample patients related to the study in UITH, Ilorin, Kwara State. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, Data was collected using questionnaires, in which 67 questionnaires were shared and 67 were also returned. In conclusion, recommendations were made that health care workers especially nurses should provide adequate knowledge about the disease and its complications especially to the uneducated and to those who belong to lower socio-economic status so that they can show adherence to dietary modification. While also advising the government should lower the prices of important foods in the management of kidney disease so that people can afford them. And lastly, more awareness should be done to educate the general public about foods that are needed to be taken to manage kidney disease. Keywords knowledge, dietary medication, kidney disease ...
