Abstract
This research work was conducted to assess knowledge, attitude, and perception of antibiotic use and antimicrobial resistance among undergraduate students of Kogi State University, Kogi State, Nigeria. It informed the health officers on the understanding of undergraduate students regarding antibiotic resistance. Among the objectives was to determine the level of knowledge undergraduate students of Kogi State University have on antibiotic use and antimicrobial resistance and to assess the attitudinal disposition of undergraduate students of Kogi State University towards antibiotic use and antimicrobial resistance. Furthermore, to assess the perception of undergraduate students of Kogi State University about antibiotic use and antimicrobial resistance. Many medical and allied literatures were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research uses descriptive survey to sample undergraduate students in the study area. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 390 questionnaires were distributed out of which 256 were retrieved. In conclusion, recommendations were made that the management of the university should make provision for adequate health education about antimicrobial resistance in various classes/departments, and the management of the university should introduce specific courses and training about antibiotic use and antimicrobial resistance into the core curriculum of the departments. And also, the management of the university should place emphasis on correct prescribing rules and the prevention of inappropriate use...
