Abstract
The study sought to investigate Assessment of the use of multimedia in the Development of Islamic Education in Nigeria (A case study of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, Kano)”. Three research Questions guided the study. The research design was a survey. The population of the study comprised all students in the study area. Questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. Data collected was analyzed using simple table and percentage. The study found that the majority of the respondents (58%) indicated that multimedia assist learners to get on well with mental representations with the use of different media elements which support information processing. The result of the analysis also showed that the majority of the respondents (45%) indicated that multimedia can highlight certain important points rather than writing them on the blackboard. The result of this study also revealed that the majority of the respondents (90%) believed that students taught with multimedia acquired more experiences and had high performance than those taught using the traditional method of teaching. Based on the findings, the study recommended that Government school inspectors and educational supervisors should ensure effective use of multimedia facilities in teaching Islamic studies as it has positive effects in the performance of students. Both male and female students should be taught Islamic studies using multimedia facilities by teachers as using multimedia facilities not gender discriminative. Teachers should at all time assess students’ performance whenever new instructional materials are used to teach. ...
